I have worked in a variety of roles during my career including managerial positions in Marketing, Sales, Process Change and IT departments.
I strongly believe that employees and teams can work more efficiently if their work processes are properly reviewed and documented. This drives out waste and provides a framework within which the employees can operate more effectively.
Marketing and Sales teams, in particular, can benefit enormously by taking up some of the principles applied by project managers – most of the work in a typical marketing department is made up a series of projects, although they are not normally thought of as such. Managing these ‘pieces of work’ slightly more formally as ‘projects’, does not stifle creativity or add to the admin burden. Quite the reverse – the increased efficiency and lack of duplication provided by a ‘project management’ approach will free up time to work on new projects. More details: www.ef-ef.co.uk
